Ares PDR-C Review

Ares PDR-C Review

Overview:

The PDR-C is an official replica of the famous (and experimental)  magpul PDR system. Featuring all of the Ambi controls, as-well as a strong polymer body, its 1:1 size lets you feel just how special this never mass produced firearm could have been.

Quality:

The PDR-C is made out a strong nylon ingused polymer, its very smooth, but not cheap feeling at the same time. The replica features a non threaded barrel, a trigger safety, (the trigger is also dual-pull, like an AUG or p90) aswell as an ambi mag release (located above the trigger at the front of the replica). Personally i love the ergonomics of this weapon system, it takes the very comfortable grip style of the p90, and makes it better with a traditionally angles pistol grip. Overall the PDR is very compact in length. one of the largest downfalls is battery space, with a small battery being required to fit inside the pistol grip. The Hop-up unit is also hard reach, being located under a rubber plate at the rear of the gun.

Internals:

The PDR-C features a proprietary gearbox shell and hop-up, while sharing some internal parts compatibility with the V2 system. Do to how compact the PDR-C is, the gearbox has a built in tube which guides BBs to a hop unit which sits further into the replicas body; unfortunately this leads to a lower mag capacity of ~10 BBs due to no retention mechanism. Both the ambi ejection port cover, and charging handle are non functioning, and only add realism to the replica.
