Overview:
One of Marushin’s earlier airsoft guns, this piece stands out with its complex internals and somewhat iffy externals. Despite these quirks, it’s an incredibly fun gun with a hard-hitting kick. Available in both 6mm and 8mm, it’s truly a fascinating collector’s item. Personally, I adore this piece for its unique charm
Quality:
The externals of this Marushin model reflect its experimental nature, with some odd design choices but a lot of character. The 6mm variants are particularly rare, making them highly sought after compared to the more common 8mm models. The trigger has a mushy feel with a surprising number of internal parts, which, while complex, adds to the replica’s accuracy. The disassembly process is almost identical to the real firearm—it just requires removing the side plates on the lower receiver.
The magazine design is unconventional but functional, further emphasizing this gun’s unique appeal. While the externals might not scream high-end, the overall charm of the piece and its operation make it a joy to handle.
Internals:
The internals strike a balance between simplicity and complexity. The trigger mechanism is intricate, with more parts than necessary, but it works reliably. The internals give this model a distinct personality, matching the original firearm’s quirky yet functional engineering. The fact that the gun disassembles similarly to the real thing adds a layer of authenticity. The gun itself is open bolt, and was very clearly designed by maruzen, even if produced under marushin. The MP40 firing and bolt group is quite similar to the open bolt group used on the Maruzen KG9 (another wonderful replica).
